When I sit down to work at a drawing I surround myself with the photographs and use the laptop to zoom in for detailed areas.

I begin by sketching the outline of the dog or person.  I then begin by blocking in the background and adding layers of chalk for the desired effect.  I then begin on the subject adding a base colour on which I can start to layer the colours and detail the hairs. As soon as the eyes are done the drawing begins to come to life.  Each drawing can take up to 15 hours to complete depending on the size and breed of the dog.
